Beuys believed that every animal species has a collective soul or consciousness. The other species possess many capabilities the man has lost and is not aware of the loss. For example, many non human species have a strong sense of orientation. He spoke with animals taking them as the representatives of their species. He modulated his voice in such a way that the formation of a thought would become perceptible as a plastic process. He strived to show that the voice can be an important transmitter of energies and an immediate substance foe the conceptual plastics.
